What you'll do

As a Sr. Systems Integration Engineer, you will specialize in the design, demonstration, testing and integration of highly sophisticated communication systems for commercial and military applications that predominantly serve the Joint and Special Operational Forces communities. You'll demonstrate and test our tactical gateways, satellite communications terminals and IP encrypters, and integrate multiple products that might involve SATCOM and other modes of communications, networking, RF theory, tactical data links and encryption technologies - all to deliver a groundbreaking, highly specialized and innovative solution. You'll also conduct training and provide demonstrations of our equipment and work on projects of diverse scope.

The day-to-day

We perform much of the heavy lifting for our SOCOM customers in the form of mission preparation, actions on and after-action reviews. We're on the road more than 50% of the time performing exercise support, major training events and integration exercise for the best-in-class special operations units

What you'll need

  • 7+ years' experience in the installation, troubleshooting and testing of RF satellite communication systems
  • Experience with cryptographic security equipment (KG-250, KG-175, SecNet, etc.) and tactical RF radios (STT, PRC-117G, PRC-152A, PRC-160, PRC-167, MANET, etc.)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, troubleshooting and configuration of networking equipment (routers, switches, PC's, etc.)
  • Experience with Tactical Data Link (TDL) operations (Link 16, SADL, VMF) and Host Systems (TRAX, BADL, JRE, BOSS, etc.)
  • Understanding of military android and windows applications (ATAK, APASS, KILSWITCH, WinTAK)
  • Experience and knowledge configuring and operating test equipment (i.e., spectrum analyzers, multimeters, power meters, and cable testers)
  • Validated knowledge of communication technologies employed by SOF and other DoD forces
  • Validated training experience in a formal classroom environment
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • Active Sec+ certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • US Government position. US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
  • Ability to travel up to 75% both CONUS and OCONUS (60 days minimum) What will help you on the job
    • Knowledge with Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR), Situational Awareness (SA), and satellite communications technologies
    • Experience with planning, organizing, and implementing tactical demonstrations/events
    • Experience with TCP/IP tools such as network analyzers, Wireshark, iPerf, and TCPdump
    • Experience installing, configuring, and resolving Viasat modem technology to include ArcLight, EBEM, Linkway, Surfbeam, and AfterBurner.
    • Experience in installing Viasat ground and airborne terminals to include Multi-Mission terminal (MMT), Nomad, VR-12 Ku/Ka, G-series, and KuKaray.
    • CompTIA Net+, Sec+ certified
    • CCNA certification
    • Cloud administrator certified
    • Knowledge of military tactical air control operational concepts
    • Joint Fires integration and employment experience
    • Special Operations experience
    • Master's degree in a technical field
    • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

      Government contract driving

      An essential function of this position for the work performed under a government contract requires driving a Viasat-owned vehicle. As such, participation in our Drug-Alcohol program is required which includes pre-employment testing and random testing.
      Salary range

      $95,100.00 - $165,500.00 / annually
