  • PhD in Physics, Quantum Information Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    
  • One or more scientific publication submission(s) for conferences, journals, or public repositories.
    Preferred qualifications:
    • 2 years of experience in Python.
      
    • Experience in high-performance scientific computation.
      
    • Experience using Trotter methods for simulating quantum systems.
      
    • Experience in simulating correlated quantum systems (e.g. correlated spin systems).
    • Knowledge of error mitigation techniques for noisy quantum computation.
      
    • One or more scientific publications in collaboration with experimental quantum scientists.

You will be modeling the noise and other sources of error on the device and designing optimal error mitigation and error correction strategies.The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.       • Design protocols for simulations of many-body quantum phenomena on noisy intermediate scale and early fault-tolerant quantum computers.
        
      • Provide theoretical and modeling support for algorithms experiments on Google's quantum computers.
        
      • Design and optimize protocols for error mitigation and early error correction.
        
      • Communicate scientific results through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
